Hello Osprey fans
Juhuuu - finally an Estonian osprey cam is online
It looks like it won´t be streamed on YouTube, but we can access the cam with a direct link, like last year.
Maybe it will again have some technical issues, I already saw an off-and-on-again, but better than nothing.
......
When I started watching, the nest looked still pretty abandoned, but meanwhile I could see two ospreys on the nest
Happy Osprey season for all fans
Edit 28.04.2025
Link removed, as there occured safety issues

Both ospreys are without rings

Eye detail of the right side darker osprey

I think the sound is a little bit delayed ...

I've just read through the 2024 season - thank you all for keeping it up even with no osprets. I've only checked in about once a season since the camera quit working for the (2?) seasons. So it seems we have two new osprey. I will miss Ivo and Iiris as a mated pair, but life goes on.

Good day to all osprey lovers and especially to the regulars of this nest.
Welcome home, our dear Iiris
With the beginning of a new season, I hope this year it will be less dramatic compared to last year.

Iiris is with fish

The male looks like M2 from last season. I'll wait for more pictures, but it looks very similar.

The male who brought the fish for Iris is often in the nest, protecting it from the second male. The second male does not sit on the nest, but does not fly far either. Nobody is taking care of the nest, most likely there is a fight for territory now.
Iiris flew away with the fish (09:05) and never returned.

Photos for comparison and identification
Last year's male M2
And this year's male, who often sits on the nest and brought fish for Iiris.
Very similar, right? I'll post other photos now.

Nice to have this nest on a cam again, my first cam on LK, always as welcome. Thankyou Sappheira, for the pic research, it looks promising!
Iiris
Hope the safety issues with the cam link are soon solved.

Hello Osprey fans
I got the news that there have occurred safety issues by using the direct link and for that I removed it from the forum. Those, who have saved it or still have in mind, are asked to stop using it.
It is so sad, that cyber safety/criminality has become a real issue nowadays, also here
There will be efforts to change the live stream over to YouTube, but as we already know from the past, small breaks in transmission often happen and when this appears too often, YouTube will refuse to stream it. Solar panels here at the nest are on the ground and the forest trees around are growing high and well ...
We will see what will be possible.
-
Together with this I got some additional information about the nest:
On April, 23rd, Urmas installed the battery with the help of a student. They found egg shells under the nest on the ground and also in the nest bottom.
-
As it is already end of April, I would assume that there was a couple that had already eggs and started breeding, but territory fights caused drama again and the eggs got destroyed. This is only my personal guess-work and I could also be wrong .... but this is what I believe most ....
I will post the YouTube link for the cam as soon as I get knowledge about it, in case one of you is quicker than I am, please share it here in the topic.
Thanks for your understanding
